This accessibility statement applies to www.burtondassettparishcouncil.com
This website is run by Burton Dassett Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
· Change colours, contrast levels and font
· Zoom in up to 300% without the text slipping off the screen
· Navigate most of the website using just the keyboard
· Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
· Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet (https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk/) has advice on asking your device easier to use if you have a disability.
We know some parts of the website are not fully accessible:
· Financial statements may be difficult to read due to font size and clarity.
· PDFs may be difficult to read due to the quality of scanned material.
· Photograph images may not have a text alternative or clear labelling.

Technical Information About This Website’s Accessibility
Burton Dassett Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance Status
The website is partially compliant with the Website Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard. This is due to the following non-compliances:
Non-accessible Content
· Some of the older PDF documents do not meet accessibility standards. Any new PDF or Word documents we publish on the new website will meet accessibility standards.
· The annual AGAR (Audit) papers are required to be completed by hand and are then scanned. This PDF document is not accessible but email copies are available from the Clerk.
· The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2018/952/regulation/4/made) if they are not essential to providing our services.
Non-compliance With The Accessibility Regulations
· Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).
· We plan to add text alternatives for all images by September 2021. When we publish new content, we will make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.
Disproportionate Burden
Here is where to list accessibility problems that would be a disproportionate burden to fix, in the context of the development of a new website:
· Links to other websites
· Text alternatives for scanned photographs
· Populating of documents to existing website and adapting them to meet accessibility requirements
Content That is Not Within The Scope Of The Accessibility Regulations
PDFs and Other Documents:
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2018/952/regulation/4/made) if they are not essential to providing our services.
